Today's Devotion 19 August 2017: God Calls You

Today's Devotion 19 August 2017
God Calls You

God is continually calling you to Him. He knows our needs and He offers rest for our souls that can refresh our minds and body. To know God is to be continually filled by His greatness. To know God is to have a joy in your soul. When you are connected to God, you become aware of the things He offers you. Listen to God's call and refocus on Him so that you may be blessed. God calls you back from the darkness, from the shame, from the hate. He calls you back into His loving embrace.

"Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is in the Lord." -Jeremiah 17:7

"The Lord gives strength to His people; the Lord blesses His people with peace."- Psalm 29:11

This truth inspires us at Faith Defines Us to live boldly in our faith. Because Jesus lives, we are called to walk in His victory, share His love, and be a light to the world. Easter is a reminder that no matter how dark the circumstances, God’s power and promises are greater.

The Power of the Cross

On Good Friday, we reflect on the crucifixion of Jesus Christ — the day when God’s plan for redemption reached its most painful yet triumphant moment. Jesus bore the weight of our sins, enduring unimaginable suffering so that we could have eternal life.

Isaiah 53:5 reminds us: “But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on Him, and by His wounds, we are healed.”

Good Friday is not just a commemoration of Christ’s death; it’s a celebration of the love that made it possible. It’s a reminder that our Savior willingly endured the cross for each of us.
